Join us on Saturday 12 April 2014 for an informative and fun morning with “The Still Man” Roger Jorgensen.
We will spend the morning looking at the interaction of alcohol and plants, smelling and tasting the local and exotic botanicals Roger grows on his farm and how plants are used to formulate recipes for gin, absinthe and liqueurs. We will then move to the beautiful stoep for a hands on cocktail making session using the Gin, Vodka, Limoncello and Absinthe Jogensen’s Distillery is so well known for.
More than a decade of experience and valuable time with Cognac mentors Robert Leaute of Remy Martin and Buks Venter of KWV lead to ever increasing specialisation in the art of transforming wild young wines into perfect amber Savingnac. Roger soon realised that this is where his passion and interest lies and now concentrates only on the distillation of his finely handcrafted spirits, which include Jorgensen’s Distillery’s well established Savingnac Potstill Brandy, the Primitiv Vodka, Field of Dreams Absinthe and the very special Jorgensen’s Gin.
Roger and Dawn live on their tiny historic family farm, Versailles, in the heart of Wellington. From here they create and share their finely hand crafted spirits, remain truly inspired by life and love and continue to hone the skills learnt through personal endeavour, hard work and passion.
We will serve some snacks during the morning and will aim to finish around 12.30/13.00 allowing guests to enjoy lunch at their own leisure at one of Wellington’s restaurants. We can recommend Twist Some More, Oude Wellington Restaurant and Dunstone Winery. (Please note that reservations need to be made directly with the venues as they do not form part of our event on the day.)
